GoGetHer Phone App

Graphic Design

In 2015, I was presented with the opportunity to work with the ride-share start-up company GoGetHer. I was tasked to design and build their app button/logo and initial in-app user interface. The company's only requirements were to use the letter "G" as foundation for the design and to avoid anything too "bubble-gum" - otherwise I was given artistic liberty with the design and layout. Proper design requires many iterations in order to discover the final product. Among my first steps include creating a variety of thumbnail ideas in different combinations of styles, color treatments and designs. I can then combine the strongest features of the client's liking. These characteristics may be combined to create a new round of samples. In this case, the client requested the combination of two specific designs.

In addition to designing the app button, I was also designated with the front-end design of the user interface. I used the iOS mobile platform to mock-up the UI. Some of the in-development app designs are placed within the home screen - purposefully adjacent to competitor apps. This is a great opportunity to see if the design holds up. The launch window displays an enlarged version of the button with a frosted, transparent background. Also included is the in-app display layout.

dB Talent Branding

Graphic Design

In 2016, I was hired by talent agency dB Talent in Austin, Texas (http://dbtalent.com) to redesign their corporate logo as well as design home page buttons for their website. Work began with redesigning the logo. The client was interested in an adjustment that would stay true to the original design yet, modernized. After sending variations of the current logo and elements, I decided to also provide a few derivatives of the design as a way to test the direction. The client decided to move forward with one of the derivatives and approved the logo.

Upon completing the logo, I moved on to the web asset project. As always, I provided the client with a variety of options based on the initial ideas provided to me. The client did not have previous assets but was interested in fun and colorful design motif. I initially delivered simple, stylized line art as well as a series of buttons with a comic-book printed look. It was decided that we would expand on the comic-book style of assets.

Taylor West Advertisement Web Assets

Motion Graphics

In 2018, I was hired by Taylor West Advertisement (https://www.taylorwest.com) to help animate assets for their website. An in-house artist provided a layered Adobe Illustrator file which I then imported to Adobe After Effects for animation. This project proved challenging due to the required amount of movement needed to sell the walk cycles. Since many of the character's limbs lacked joints, each appendage had to be edited by hand in Photoshop.
